My name is Sara Bresette. I am a graduate of the Florida State University where I received the Bachelor of Music degree. I was a student of Professor Eva Amsler for all four years of my study and while at Florida State participated in many masterclasses with prominent flutists such as Leone Buyse, Michel Debost, Jeff Khaner, Erv Monroe, Shaul Ben-Mier, and Karl-Heinz Schutz. Before college, my primary teacher was Beth Larsen. As a student at Florida State, I was also very active in the orchestras, playing in the University Philharmonia, an undergraduate ensemble, for the first two years, and in the University Symphony Orchestra, a graduate ensemble, for my last two years. Much of my time spent in the orchestra was as a principal player, but I also got many opportunities to play second flute and piccolo. I gave four recitals during my time at Florida State, and was also a finalist in the Florida State University Concerto Competition, and a finalist in the Florida Flute Association College Young Artist Competition. As a senior in high school, I was the winner of the Florida Flute Association High School Young Artist Competition, as well as the principal flute player in the Florida All State Orchestra. My junior and sophomore years of high school I was a member of the Florida All State Bands. My teaching experience includes teaching private lessons and conducting sectionals in Melbourne and Tallahassee, teaching flute lessons at Indian River Community College, as well as helping to run various summer music programs. I play as a substitute flutist with various orchestras in the state, as well as around the Melbourne/Orlando area as a freelance musician. One of my goals is to start some sort of flute summer camp in conjunction with one of the community colleges in the area, of course, this will come in time. On a more personal note, I am recently married to the Band Director of Viera High School, Wayne Bresette. Lastly, I can't fail to mention that I am an animal lover. I have two cats, Carter and Bebe, and a Miniature Schnauzer, Schlitz. If my husband would let me, I would have many more animals, but he thinks three is enough. |
